The Titus 2 Woman

“Similarly, teach the older women to live in a way that is appropriate for someone serving the Lord. They must not go around speaking evil of others and must not be heavy drinkers. Instead, they should teach others what is good.  These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely and be pure, to take care of their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God.”  Titus 2:3-5

The Titus 2 ministry is not a program or event but a personal challenge to live out the instruction given to the women of the church by Paul.  The call for “older women” to “train” is a beautiful picture of women co-laboring in life’s events instead of allowing women to bear the weight of them alone.

The word train means to exhort one earnestly.  To do this we must build trustworthy relationships with women God has placed around us and spend time investing in those lives.

This call was not to the women in leadership or to those best qualified, but to all.  I pray that you are moved to action by this section of Scripture. Here are some practical ways to live this calling out.

1.  Make yourself known to other women in your fellowship.  When you attend church don’t look for women to minister to you, look for women that you can minister to.

2.  Pray for them regularly.  Your heart will always be pulled towards those you intercede for.

3.  Consider yourself as “someone serving the Lord” and be faithful to the calling.

4.  Be a diligent student and “doer” of the Word so that you can minister truth from His Word and not your own.

5.  Get signed up for a DNA group so that you can meet and build trusting relationships with women of all ages and in differing walks in life.
